There are not enough kind words in the world to express how happy I am to have chosen Claudia from Captured by Claudia to be my mentor. I took her workshop in October 2014 (I had admired her work for years and I was thrilled that she was offering workshops) and I can honestly say that over the past 3.5 years, the teaching has never once stopped. She continues to offer advice, helpful criticism and updates us with new and better ways to pose babies. She wants you to succeed and for your work to continue to improve and grow. This woman is one of the most selfless mentors I know and offers free reunions for us to grow and learn from her every year. FREE you guys, we only pitch in for the house rental and then of course, pay for ourselves when we eat out. I am still in awe of the selflessness. I have jumped on every chance to learn from this amazing woman. Our first CBC reunion was held near Dallas and just when I thought that was the best reunion, she wowed me again with a 4 day workshop at a beach house in South Padre, Texas. There were 13 of us girls from all over the US (not counting Claudia) and the first night we got to meet each other in person (It’s amazing to meet people you’ve only ever talked to online and instantly click with them all!). She had the house full of goodies for us.. Workshop shirts, mini wood cameras (that her husband hand makes) and cupcakes and cookies. She seriously is the best. That night we had pizza and went out for snacks and drinks (there’s no such thing as a diet on these trips). We ate delicious food for every meal haha
The next morning we went to the studio of one of the workshop girls who hosted us in her town (Iliasis Muniz Photography) and watched Claudia work her magic with 2 newborns. She went over poses with detail on how to achieve them and focused on safety (of course). She even gave advice on styling them! I was nerdly excited when she showed us all a new wrapping technique (I can’t wait to do it with a baby on my studio 🙂 I didn’t take my camera for this portion, but just watched Claudia work her magic, but she did allow us to photograph the babies she had posed for us. That night we took headshots of each other on the beach… soooo much fun!! The girls in this group are gorgeous! We had a very relaxed next day with brunch (soooo good), beach/shopping time and then had the most gorgeous maternity models that were completely styled by Claudia that night. If you’re a photographer, you know the excitement of working with 2 beautiful models and on new territory (for me, the beach). I couldn’t wait to get home and edit all of the new photos I had taken! Claudia had picked the gowns/bathing suits and I was just over the moon over everything.
I left this workshop feeling so refreshed and excited to challenge myself to try new things and get out of my comfort zone 🙂
Time passes by when you’re surrounded by new friends and fun! I can’t express how much gratitude I have for Claudia and for pushing me to become better with everything I do with my work!
