A Soft & Feminine Newborn Session in Lavender, Blush & Ivory | San Antonio Newborn Photographer

There is something especially beautiful about photographing a brand-new baby surrounded by soft colors, delicate textures and tiny details chosen just for her.

For this little girl’s newborn session, we created a gallery filled with lavender, dusty purple, blush pink, ivory and soft neutral tones. The result was feminine and detailed without taking attention away from the most important part of every newborn session — baby herself.

One of my favorite things about being a San Antonio newborn photographer is creating galleries that give parents variety. I don’t believe a newborn session has to be completely simple or completely styled. We can incorporate beautiful florals and props while also creating those clean, timeless portraits that will still feel beautiful hanging in your home many years from now.

Lavender, Lilac & Floral Newborn Setups

Lavender was one of the main colors throughout this session, and it photographed beautifully against baby’s warm skin tone and dark hair.

For one setup, she was carefully wrapped in a soft lilac wrap and nestled into a small wooden prop surrounded by layers of curly lavender texture. Lavender florals were arranged around the edges, with a deeper purple pillow adding just enough contrast to keep the setup from becoming too monochromatic.

A coordinating floral headband completed the look.

Although there are several elements in this image, everything stays within the same soft color palette. That is something I pay close attention to when designing newborn setups. The props, textures, flowers and accessories should complement the baby rather than compete with her.

We continued the lavender palette with a beautiful wrapped portrait using a distressed cream prop and a soft watercolor-style lavender backdrop. This setup was a little simpler, allowing her tiny hands, sweet profile and beautiful features to become the focus.

Sweet, Simple Newborn Poses

Some of my favorite images from a newborn gallery are often the simplest.

We photographed this little girl curled comfortably on a solid lavender backdrop wearing a delicate knitted outfit and bonnet. Without extra props or elaborate styling, you can really see the details parents never want to forget — her tiny fingers, little lips, round cheeks and the way she naturally curled her legs close to her body.

We also created a soft ivory portrait with baby lying peacefully on a textured cream blanket. Her neutral outfit and tiny floral headband kept the image incredibly classic.

These are the photographs that work beautifully in albums, framed prints and wall art because they never really go out of style.

Delicate Blush Pink Details

Of course, we had to include pink.

One of the more detailed setups featured baby nestled into a beautiful cream wicker bed surrounded by layers of blush fabric, lace pillows and florals in shades of dusty rose, blush and deeper burgundy.

Her tiny floral crown tied the colors together perfectly.

I loved adding those richer floral tones because they gave the soft pink setup a little depth while still keeping the overall image feminine and romantic.

For another portrait, we kept the palette much softer with a pale blush backdrop, a white lace romper and an oversized satin bow finished with a sparkling jeweled center. It has such a sweet, polished feel while still allowing all of baby’s tiny details to shine.

Timeless Ivory & Cream Newborn Portraits

Every newborn gallery deserves a few beautiful neutrals.

Ivory, cream and white are wonderful because they keep the attention completely on baby and coordinate with almost any home décor.

For these portraits, we used delicate lace, subtle texture and simple floral accessories rather than lots of color. The result feels soft, peaceful and timeless.

One of my favorite images from the session is the front-facing pose with baby’s chin resting gently above her hands. Her little cheeks and lips are completely on display, and the soft cream tones surrounding her keep the photograph wonderfully simple.

A Variety of Newborn Poses

A full newborn gallery shouldn’t feel like the same photograph repeated with different accessories.

Throughout a session, I work toward creating a variety of images while always following baby’s comfort and natural flexibility. Depending on the baby, a gallery may include:

Wrapped poses
Side-lying and curled poses
Chin-on-hands poses
Prop poses
Tiny detail images
Simple blanket portraits
More elaborate styled setups
Different angles and close-up compositions

You may also see poses such as the classic froggy-style newborn pose in my work. These more advanced newborn poses are approached carefully and with baby safety as the priority, using support and compositing when necessary rather than expecting a newborn to support herself.

No two babies move, sleep or curl exactly the same way, so I never want a session to feel like we are simply working through a rigid checklist. I photograph each baby as an individual and adjust the session around what she is comfortable doing.

You Don’t Have to Bring All the Newborn Props

Newborn photography is very different from photographing older babies or children.

It requires patience.

Sometimes we stop for feeding. Sometimes a baby needs to be wrapped before she settles. Sometimes a pose I originally planned isn’t the pose that particular baby loves — and that’s okay.

My job isn’t simply to photograph your baby. It is to create an environment where we can safely and patiently work through the session while creating a varied, polished gallery for your family.

Twin Newborn Photography Session in San Antonio

Welcoming one new baby is an incredible life change—welcoming two makes the season twice as special. This beautiful twin newborn photography session in San Antonio was filled with sleepy snuggles, tiny details, rich colors, and so much love from the entire family.

We began with family portraits featuring the twins safely wrapped and held by their parents. These images are always an important part of a newborn gallery because they document more than how small the babies were—they capture the family exactly as it looked during those first unforgettable weeks together.

Grandparents and other close family members also joined the session. Extended-family portraits are especially meaningful when relatives are visiting from out of town or gathering specifically to meet the newest additions. Babies grow quickly, but these photographs preserve the joy surrounding their arrival for generations.

A Fully Styled Twin Newborn Session

Photographing twins requires patience, careful planning, and the flexibility to work around two babies’ feeding and soothing needs. Each baby was photographed individually and together using a variety of coordinated setups.

Their gallery included soft lavender portraits, deep red and teal wraps, a colorful rainbow setup, and simple neutral images that keep the focus entirely on their sweet faces. Each twin was also given individual attention so their family received beautiful portraits of them as siblings and as two unique little people.

All of the wraps, blankets, headbands, props, baskets, and backdrops used during the session were provided by my San Antonio newborn photography studio. Parents do not need to shop for outfits or bring an entire carload of supplies. Before the session, we discuss preferred colors and styles so I can prepare a personalized collection of setups while still allowing enough flexibility to follow the babies’ cues.

Experience Matters When Photographing Newborn Twins

With 16 years of newborn photography experience, I understand that no two sessions—or babies—are exactly alike. Safety and comfort always come before completing a particular pose. This is even more important with twins because each baby may settle, feed, and sleep differently.

Sessions are never rushed from one setup to another. Time is built in for feeding, changing, soothing, and safely transitioning the babies between poses. The goal is to create a varied gallery while keeping the experience as calm and comfortable as possible for both the babies and their parents.

A Floral Newborn Session Full of Lavender, Peach, and Sweet Sibling Moments

There is something so special about a newborn session filled with soft florals, delicate colors, and those tiny details parents never want to forget. This beautiful baby girl’s studio newborn session was full of sweetness from start to finish — lavender wraps, peachy pink tones, floral crowns, tiny sleepy smiles, and the sweetest moments with her mama and big brother.

As a San Antonio newborn photographer, I love creating newborn galleries that feel personal, timeless, and full of variety. This session had such a dreamy mix of soft feminine colors and floral-inspired setups. We used shades of lavender, peach, blush pink, mint, and deeper berry tones to create a gallery that felt colorful but still soft and delicate.

One of my favorite parts of this session was the variety of floral setups. Baby girl looked absolutely precious wrapped in peach inside a basket surrounded by soft flowers. The peach and coral tones gave the images such a warm, sweet feel. We started with simple, timeless family portraits. I love including these clean studio family images during newborn sessions because they keep the focus exactly where it belongs — on the connection between everyone. One of my favorite parts of this session was photographing mom with her baby boy. There is something so tender about those first portraits of a mother and her newborn. They are simple, emotional, and timeless. Baby was wrapped in a soft blue swaddle, which photographed beautifully against the clean white studio backdrop and mom’s light blue dress.

For baby’s solo portraits, we used a beautiful blue color palette. The soft blue wrap, textured layers, and heart-shaped bowl created such a sweet setup for this little one. Blue is always a classic choice for newborn boys, but I love using it in a way that still feels soft, modern, and timeless.

This setup gave the gallery a peaceful, cozy feel while still adding color and texture. The heart bowl was the perfect little prop to make the image feel extra sweet without taking attention away from baby.

We also used a rustic bucket setup with warm wood tones and deep blue textures. This is such a great option for families who love a slightly more natural, earthy look. The wood backdrop, rustic bucket, and soft blue layer worked so well together and gave the session a little variety while still keeping everything cohesive.

One thing I love about newborn photography in San Antonio is being able to style each session around the family’s preferences. Some families love soft neutrals. We also included a soft neutral setup with baby in a beige outfit. Neutral newborn portraits are always timeless because they keep the focus on baby’s tiny features — the little toes, sleepy face, soft cheeks, and sweet newborn details. This sweet newborn petite session was extra special because this was this family’s third newborn session with me in just four years. There is truly nothing better than watching families grow and being trusted again and again to photograph such important milestones. As a San Antonio newborn photographer, returning families always mean so much to me, and this session was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.

For this baby boy’s session, mama chose a rich dark royal purple as his primary blanket color. It photographed beautifully and gave his newborn portraits such a classic, bold look while still feeling soft and timeless. We paired the purple with a mix of beige and neutral tones for his outfits and wraps, which helped create a gallery with variety while keeping everything simple, sweet, and cohesive.

Toward the very end, he woke up and gave us the sweetest wide-eyed photo. Baby girl slept so well throughout her session, making it easy to capture those peaceful newborn poses everyone loves. She even gave us a couple of tiny smiles, which made her gallery even more special.

For this session, we used a cream blanket setup along with a mix of adorable newborn outfits and wraps in gold, white, and cream. These soft neutral colors created such an elegant and timeless look. To add just a little sparkle, we included a gold crown and a glitter wrap, giving her portraits a beautiful princess-inspired touch without taking away from the simple, classic feel of the session.

San Antonio Newborn Photographer | A Sweet Baby Boy Newborn Session

One of the sweetest parts of being a San Antonio newborn photographer is getting to watch families grow over the years. This beautiful family came back to the studio for their second newborn session, and it was such a joy to photograph their newest baby boy. I photographed big sister just 18 months ago, so seeing her return as a proud big sister made this session extra special.

Big brother did such a wonderful job during the family and sibling portion of the session. Big sister was also incredibly cooperative, which is always such a gift with little ones. Sibling photos with a newborn can be unpredictable, especially when toddlers are involved, but these two did beautifully. We were able to capture sweet family portraits, sibling images, and plenty of solo newborn portraits of baby.

For baby boy’s solo photos, we used a beautiful variety of colors and setups. His gallery included light grey, medium grey, dark grey, dark green, dark blue, medium blue, and a dreamy moon-and-stars theme. These tones gave his session a timeless, cozy look while still adding variety throughout the gallery.

We also used a mix of props and natural posing to highlight all of his tiny newborn details. Some of the setups included a little bed, a heart prop, and simple posed images that kept the focus fully on baby. I always love combining styled newborn portraits with more natural poses because it creates a gallery that feels both artistic and personal.

Newborn sessions like this are such a reminder of why I love what I do. These babies are only this tiny for such a short time, and being able to preserve these first days for families is truly special. From the little fingers and sleepy smiles to the connection between parents and siblings, every part of a newborn session tells a piece of the family’s story.

A Sweet Preemie Newborn Session in Peach, Pink, Purple, Beige & Cream | San Antonio Newborn Photographer

There is something so incredibly special about photographing a brand-new baby, and this sweet girl’s newborn session was one I will always remember. As a San Antonio newborn photographer, I get the honor of capturing babies during their tiniest, sleepiest, most delicate stage of life, and it is truly one of the greatest joys of what I do.

This beautiful baby girl was a preemie and came in for her newborn session as soon as she was released from the hospital. She did absolutely wonderfully. After everything her family had already been through, it felt extra meaningful to document these first portraits and celebrate just how strong and precious she is.

For her session, we used the softest, most feminine color palette with lots of peach, beige, pink, purple, and cream. These tones photographed beautifully together and gave her gallery such a sweet, timeless look. The creamy neutrals kept everything soft and classic, while the peach, pink, and purple added the perfect touch of warmth and girly charm.

One of my favorite parts of being a newborn photographer in San Antonio is getting to create a calm, cozy experience for families while preserving these tiny details that change so quickly. The little fingers, sleepy expressions, curled-up poses, and delicate features are only this tiny for such a short time.

Newborn photography is more than just taking pictures. It is about giving families a way to remember the beginning — the love, the relief, the joy, and the miracle of finally having their baby home and in their arms.
