There is something so timeless about a classic studio maternity session, and Kendall’s session was exactly that. As a San Antonio maternity photographer, I love creating portraits that feel elegant, feminine, and full of emotion. Kendall’s maternity session was the perfect example of how beautiful a simple studio setup can be when paired with the right gown, backdrop, and a joyful mama-to-be.

For her session, Kendall chose my Petite Maternity Photoshoot in studio, which is such a great option for moms who want beautiful professional portraits with a simpler, more focused experience. Even with a petite session, we were able to create a gallery full of stunning images that feel polished, graceful, and memorable.

Kendall selected a textured black backdrop, which gave her portraits a bold and dramatic look while still keeping the focus on her and her baby bump. The dark backdrop added beautiful contrast and helped the soft tones of her gown stand out in such a striking way. This setup created an elevated, studio look that feels both modern and timeless.

She also chose a large ruffle Cinderella-inspired tulle gown, and honestly, it was the perfect choice for her session. The fullness and texture of the gown added so much movement and softness to the images. It framed her beautifully and brought a romantic, editorial feel to the portraits. Paired with the textured black background, the look was absolutely stunning.

Kendall was also incredibly photogenic. Some clients are nervous walking into a session, but she made it look effortless. She had such a happy, joyful energy, and that came through in every image. Her smile, her confidence, and the excitement she carried into the studio made this session so fun to photograph. I can hardly believe how fast time has flown — it feels like just yesterday I was photographing Thalia’s first maternity session! Back then, she chose a cozy studio session, and she was such a joy to photograph — calm, graceful, and full of quiet excitement as she awaited her baby girl.

This time around, Thalia wanted something a little different — a relaxed, outdoor family session to celebrate this new chapter with her husband and daughter by her side. We met in the charming little town of Helotes, Texas, just outside of San Antonio. It’s one of my favorite spots for sunset sessions, with wide open fields, rustic charm, and that unbeatable Texas glow that wraps everything in golden light.

As a San Antonio maternity photographer, I always schedule sessions during that dreamy golden hour — when the light is soft, romantic, and perfect for highlighting those emotional connections between family. Thalia’s vision was clear: she wanted the fields, the rustic feel, and the warmth of the sunset — and she got all of it.

Capturing Joy: A Day with the Velasquez Family

There’s nothing more delightful than a family arriving for their photoshoot, brimming with smiles and excited children ready to capture beautiful moments. This year marks the third time I’ve had the privilege of working with the Velasquez family, and I can honestly say that every session is a cherished experience. From the moment they step in front of my camera, their joy is palpable, and it makes for some truly enchanting portraits.

One of the things that stands out about the Velasquez family is how incredibly photogenic they are. Each family member brings their own unique energy, and together, they create a mosaic of emotions that truly reflects the love they share. It’s evident that they enjoy each other’s company, and their laughter often fills the air, making my job not only easier but also incredibly rewarding.

A huge credit goes to Mom, who has a remarkable talent for scouting out beautiful locations for our shoots. Every year, she suggests new spots, and I’m continually amazed by her eye for scenery. This year, she led us to a stunning area that offered a variety of backdrops all within a short walking distance—tall grass swaying in the gentle breeze, lush green trees providing a sense of intimacy, and an expansive open field that added a sense of adventure. To add to our day’s magic, we were even fortunate enough to spot some deer observing us from a distance, as if they too wanted to be part of the family portrait!

But perhaps the icing on the cake was the incredible sunshine that graced our session. For those who know me, it’s no secret that I’m a sucker for natural light, especially when it bathes everything in a warm, golden glow. The interplay of shadows and light created a dreamy atmosphere that enhanced the beauty of each shot. There’s simply nothing that goes better together than sunshine, a camera, and beautiful people, and I was delighted to have all three in abundance.

As I snapped away, capturing candid moments and posed portraits alike, I couldn’t help but reflect on how special it is to witness and document the evolving story of the Velasquez family. With each passing year, I see their children grow and change, yet the essence of their familial love remains constant, which is both wonderful and timeless.

At the end of the day, photography is so much more than just taking pictures; it’s about freezing moments in time that families can cherish for years to come. I am grateful for the Velasquez family for allowing me the honor of telling their story through my lens, and I can’t wait for our next adventure together. Big brother stayed by Zaylie’s side the entire session, never leaving her, and it was beyond cute to witness the bond they already shared. There’s something so heartwarming about seeing siblings in their early moments of becoming a family.

Mr Orion was such a sweet baby! I saw him last while he was still growing and kicking around in his mommy’s tummy and she is beautiful! 🙂 His name is Orion, so naturally, moons and stars were used for his photoshoot 🙂 We also did a variety of classic and timeless poses and of course, lots of colors that will forever look great as he ages. His parents joined in for family photos and they are such a good looking couple 🙂 It explains why this little guy looks as perfect as he is 🙂

If I had to choose a favorite, I would say say the one that is photoshopped and little man is sleeping on the moon. It’s photoshopped, but so cute! 🙂

Mr Nicholas has been in front of my camera once already, but this time, he was no longer hiding in his mommy’s tummy 🙂 (we did his mommy’s maternity photoshoot a little less than 2 months before his newborn session) 🙂 She looked amazing as well!

For Nicholas’s newborn color scheme, his mama requested greens & blues and we also got lots of family & sibling photos! I really couldn’t pick a favorite. Big brother was a ham and totally loved baby brother and smiling for the camera! They both have such loving and sweet families, it wasn’t a surprise to see two happy boys. They are such a picture perfect family 🙂

Back to Nicholas… he did so great for his newborn session and slept so awesome. I am so thankful for the families that choose me to document their babies. To be apart of capturing these memories mean the world to me.

Symphony’s Cake Smash Portraits | Krystal Garcia photography | San Antonio Photographer

Miss Symphony came to see me today and she is such a beautiful baby! Her mama chose 2 backdrops from my backdrop collection and the way she matched her outfits, cake and accessories to her backdrops had my jaw dropping. Props to her mama for all of her planning 🙂 We started off with regular portraits in front of the green spring door backdrop and then moved on to her cake smash 🙂 Last was her milk bath! Her mama worked so hard to try and get symphony to smile, but she was not having it. Mama was jumping around, singing every nursery song that’s been created in the universe and she was like, can you just hold me instead 🙂 lol. She loved her mama and I can’t blame her, they are both such sweet souls 🙂 Once she was in her mommy’s arms, she of course smiled! 🙂 Life was so much better 🙂
