Out of This World First Birthday | San Antonio Cake Smash Photographer

Turning one is such a fun milestone to celebrate, and this little guy made his first birthday session extra adorable! His studio session included both simple milestone portraits and an outer space themed cake smash, giving his family a gallery filled with plenty of variety.

We started with a timeless white wood backdrop and a few simple props so all of the attention could stay on him. He wore the cutest sage green shirt with suspenders, a bow tie, and dark shorts, and he gave us so many sweet expressions. At this age, I love letting babies sit, stand, clap, explore, and show off all of those new skills they have worked so hard to learn during their first year.

For his birthday setup, we went with an out-of-this-world space theme filled with shades of blue, gold, and white. The balloon backdrop included stars, planets, a crescent moon, and an astronaut, along with a big illuminated “ONE” to celebrate the occasion. It was playful and colorful without taking the focus away from the birthday boy.

We also incorporated several little props throughout the session, including chairs, a rocking horse, and a ride-on toy. These are perfect for one-year-olds because they give busy little hands something to explore while creating natural smiles and expressions.

And of course, we finished with his birthday cake! His blue ombré cake coordinated perfectly with the space theme and gave us another sweet way to document this special milestone.

First birthdays happen so quickly. One minute you are bringing home a tiny newborn, and suddenly they are standing, laughing, clapping, and showing off their own little personality. A first birthday photography session is such a fun way to freeze that season before it changes again.

Three Generations | San Antonio Heirloom Family Photography

There is something incredibly meaningful about having multiple generations of a family together in one set of photographs.

This beautiful studio family session brought together grandparents, their daughter, son-in-law, and their sweet baby girl for a collection of portraits celebrating three generations of family. Sessions like this are such a good reminder that family photography is about so much more than getting everyone together for one group photo. It is about documenting all of the smaller relationships within the family, too.

Throughout their session, we created a variety of portraits, including the entire extended family together, grandparents as a couple, mom and dad with their baby girl, and special portraits of mom with her little one. Their baby was absolutely adorable and gave us so many happy expressions throughout the session.

We also used two different studio setups to give their gallery plenty of variety. The first featured a bright, warm garden-inspired scene with soft yellow florals, greenery, and blue doors. It gave the images a relaxed, cheerful feel that worked beautifully for their more casual outfits. For their second look, we used a romantic floral backdrop with softer tones and more formal styling, creating a timeless heirloom feel.

One of the things I love most about extended family photography is knowing how valuable these images will become over time. Children grow quickly, parents become grandparents, and families move through different seasons before we even realize how much has changed.

A Classic Extended Family Photoshoot in San Antonio

This beautiful extended family photoshoot in San Antonio was such a special session to photograph. The family wanted to take advantage of everyone being together while one sister was visiting from out of state, which is honestly the perfect reason to schedule updated family portraits. Life gets busy, families grow, people move, and it is not always easy to have everyone in the same place at the same time. When it does happen, it is worth documenting.

This session included three generations of family, including grandparents, their two children, spouses, a sweet granddaughter, and another baby on the way. I love extended family sessions because they tell a bigger story than one household alone. These portraits are not just about what everyone looks like right now. They are about connection, legacy, and having images that show the family all together in one season of life.

We kept the session clean and timeless with a classic white studio backdrop. A simple backdrop is always a great choice for extended family photos because it keeps the focus on the people, the smiles, and the connection between everyone. With a larger group, simple styling photographs beautifully and helps the final gallery feel polished, bright, and classic.

During this studio family photoshoot in San Antonio, we captured the full family together as a large group, then moved through lots of smaller variations. We photographed grandparents with their granddaughter, couples together, siblings, individual portraits, and different family combinations. A Sweet 6 Month Baby Photoshoot in San Antonio

This beautiful 6 month baby photoshoot in San Antonio was such a sweet session to photograph. This baby girl was happy, expressive, and full of the cutest little smiles. Her parents absolutely adore her, and it showed in every part of her session. There is something so special about photographing babies at this age because their personalities are really starting to shine.

This family booked my newborn, 6 month, and one year milestone sessions, which is one of my favorite ways to document a baby’s first year. Babies change so quickly during those first twelve months. From the tiny sleepy newborn stage, to the sweet sitting and smiling stage around six months, to the big personality that comes with a one year session, each milestone tells a different part of their story.

For her 6 month portraits, we used beautiful themed backdrops with soft florals, peachy pink tones, bows, butterflies, and feminine details. These setups were perfect for a baby girl milestone session and created such a dreamy, sweet look. I love offering families a variety of backdrop options so each session can feel personal and unique. Whether parents want soft and simple, girly and floral, neutral and timeless, or a more playful theme, studio milestone sessions allow us to create a gallery with beautiful variety.

At this age, baby milestone photos are all about capturing personality.
