One of the greatest joys of being a San Antonio maternity photographer is getting to meet such amazing people — and this mama was no exception. Her bright personality and kind energy lit up the entire session, and it was truly a pleasure spending time with her. I’m definitely a people person at heart, and when I connect with happy, radiant clients like her, it reminds me just how lucky I am to do what I love.

Even better? I’ll get to see her again very soon when she returns for her newborn photography session after her baby arrives — it’s always a full-circle moment that makes my heart so full.

Elegant Gowns, Vibrant Backdrops & Angel Wings

This session was all about color, mood, and variety — and this mama brought all the style.

She started off in a deep purple maternity gown paired with a stunning purple and gold mixed-tone backdrop that added richness and depth to the portraits. For her second look, we switched to a beige gown and a moody green backdrop that gave the images a soft, earthy feel.

I had recently added a brand-new maternity gown to my client closet — and as soon as I saw how beautifully it matched her look, I knew I had to ask if she’d model it. She said yes (yay!) — and absolutely rocked it. The gown paired perfectly with the green tones and created some of my favorite images from the session.

For her final look, she chose something bold and dramatic: a gold and black backdrop with black fabric and stunning angel wings. This look was empowering, radiant, and full of confidence — exactly what I want every mom to feel during her maternity session.

Elegant Outdoor Maternity Session with Priya | San Antonio Maternity Photographer

When Priya reached out to book a maternity and newborn photography package, I was so excited she chose to work with me! From our first conversation, it was clear she had a beautiful vision for her session, and I couldn’t wait to bring it to life.

Once we picked a date in late May, the planning began — wardrobe, location, and all the little details that help make a maternity session feel like you. Outdoor maternity sessions in San Antonio can definitely be warm that time of year, but we lucked out with a slightly cooler, breezy day. In Texas, a day in the low 90s can feel like a blessing during late spring!

Gown Selections & Location: The Perfect Pairing

Priya selected two gowns from my client closet, and they were both perfect for the look she wanted. One was a fitted blue maternity dress with a long, dramatic train — always a favorite for creating elegant, timeless images. The second was a flowy blush-pink gown that’s sheer over the belly and soft down to the hem. It catches the light beautifully and adds a dreamy, romantic vibe to the images.

We met at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, one of my favorite spots for maternity photography. This garden is well-maintained year-round, and the flowers are often refreshed with the seasons — so there’s always something new and vibrant in bloom. The stone architecture, koi ponds, and winding paths offer a mix of lush backdrops and textures that photograph beautifully.

A Natural and Joyful Maternity Session

We started with solo portraits of Priya, highlighting her baby bump and that beautiful pregnancy glow. Her husband then joined us for couple portraits, and you could feel the love and excitement between them. One of my favorite parts of maternity sessions is capturing those in-between moments — the laughter, the sweet glances, the anticipation of meeting their baby soon.

When to Book Your Maternity Photos

If you’re expecting and looking for a maternity photographer in San Antonio, I recommend scheduling your session between 28–33 weeks. Around that time, your belly is nice and round, but you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move, pose, and enjoy the experience.

Being a maternity photographer here in San Antonio has so many amazing perks and one of them is meeting new people and talking to them. I really am blessed to have some of the sweetest people as clients. it’s such a joy to talk to them and walk around and capture their love for each other. I know they are super excited for their new baby and I get the honor of documenting this huge time in their life 🙂

With every maternity, family or any type of outdoor session, clients have complete control on their location choice but I do help guide clients and I have a private link I send to my clients to help them choose their location with example photos to help them decide what fits their style better. At my list of locations, i have my favorite spots and help clients pose and I already know there lighting is best. I do love having that ease.

Maddy chose to start her session with a pair of jeans, a sports bra and a button up shirt for a comfortable but stylish maternity look. We also did some of her photos in the river. The water was actually still cold even though we were already in March 🙂 Mama was a champ even with her cold legs. She then changed into one of my maternity gowns for the last look for her outdoor maternity session. It was such a good color with the outdoor fields that we shot at in Boerne, texas. I am thrilled this beautiful mama chose me to be her maternity photographer 🙂

I am incredibly fortunate to be a maternity photographer, as it allows me to meet so many amazing women. These women are carrying little miracles, and the joy they feel to document such a monumental moment in their lives is so evident throughout their photoshoots. There’s something truly special about meeting each expecting mom—whether they’re shy, adventurous, or simply thrilled to get glammed up and captured on camera. No matter their personality, one thing is certain: every mom-to-be is filled with excitement and love for the new life they’re bringing into the world.

Micaela, for example, lives about three hours away from San Antonio, but while visiting family over Thanksgiving break, she decided to schedule her maternity portraits during her trip. What an honor it was to have the opportunity to photograph her! We planned the shoot via email, selecting the perfect backdrops and gowns from my maternity collection. When Micaela arrived, we dove straight into posing, and I had the pleasure of capturing the genuine love and connection she shares with her husband. Their smiles lit up the entire session, and it was clear how deeply they care for one another.

Miss Emily was such a joy to photograph. You could tell she was the sweetest and kindest soul as soon as I met her. We met at the pearl brewery here in san antonio for her maternity photoshoot. She wanted a new scene and it offered an urban and also features the beautiful riverwalk and a touch of greenery. I brought two gowns that she chose from my maternity gown collection and we got to work. Emily’s hair and makeup look fabulous and with these really glam gowns, she looked like royalty walking around the Pearl Brewery.  I saw lots of people who were walking around looking at her, she really looked amazing. We encountered some wind after her outfit change which brought on lots of laughs as we had to keep fixing the gown that would blow away from her feet as soon as we got everything looking perfect haha.

A Beautiful Maternity Session for an Amazing Mama Expecting Baby #4

I had the absolute pleasure of working with this stunning mama for her second maternity session with me, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything turned out! She’s expecting her fourth baby—can you believe it? She looks absolutely incredible, radiating beauty and grace through every single shot. I’ve had the privilege of capturing many maternity sessions, but there’s something uniquely special about each one, especially when a family is welcoming their newest addition. This mama truly embodied elegance and excitement, and it was such an honor to be a part of this beautiful journey with her.

We started off the session in the studio with some nude maternity portraits. The black backdrop created a timeless, classic feel, allowing her natural beauty to shine through. I love starting with this look because it really emphasizes the glow and strength of the expectant mother, showing the grace and power of carrying a new life. The photos we captured in this setting were simply breathtaking, and you could feel the connection between the mother and the life growing inside her. Nude maternity portraits are such a beautiful way to celebrate the beauty of pregnancy, and this mama absolutely rocked it!

Next, we transitioned into a gorgeous green tulle fluffy gown, which added a touch of whimsy and softness to the session. The cream floral backdrop we paired with this gown created the perfect serene, ethereal atmosphere—ideal for showcasing the femininity and joy of pregnancy. The tulle of the gown gave off a dreamy vibe, and the soft, delicate floral backdrop complemented it beautifully. It was such a lovely contrast to the first set of photos and added a more romantic and delicate feel to the session.

For her final look, we chose a baby blue fluffy robe paired with a crisp white arched backdrop. The soft baby blue color really made her glow and added an extra layer of warmth and serenity to the photos. The white arch backdrop brought a clean, elegant look to the images, creating a sense of timeless beauty. This look was the perfect finish to the session, highlighting her pregnancy in such a serene, peaceful way. I love how each look we chose truly reflected different aspects of the maternal journey—from strength and elegance to softness and love.

To make the session even more special, her family joined in toward the end, and it was clear to see just how much love and excitement they have for their growing family. The way her partner and children interacted with her and supported her throughout the session was so heartwarming. There’s something truly magical about capturing these moments, not just for the mama, but for the whole family. The love between them radiated through every shot, and it made the session even more meaningful. You can tell they are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their baby, and the joy in their faces was absolutely contagious.

I am so honored and excited that this beautiful mama chose me as her San Antonio maternity photographer. It’s such a privilege to document such an important and intimate time in a family’s life. Hope is as pretty as she is kind and she was amazing to work with. Lucky enough, I get to see her and her baby once baby is born . She chose some great looks. One was a pretty pink ruffle down with a gold backdrop and then a simple beige backdrop with a sheer fabric and then nude. Her last look was the backlit white with a simple tube top sheer gown. Her husband joined in for some lovey photos and you can tell how smitten he is with her. They were so sweet together .
