San Antonio Family Photoshoot with the S Family
The S Family has been coming to me for a few years now, and it’s always such a joy to see them again! The last time I photographed them, their youngest was just a newborn — so it was extra special to capture them now as a growing family surrounded by love.
This year’s session was even more meaningful because they had extended family in town for the 4th of July. We planned their photoshoot in Helotes, Texas, where the rustic fields and open spaces create the perfect backdrop for timeless family portraits.
Even though the day was very warm, you’d never know it from looking at them! Everyone looked fresh and happy. The golden sunlight gave us beautiful lighting, though at the start of the session it was beating down on us. That’s why I love starting sessions in shaded areas — it keeps everyone comfortable and gives us soft, flattering light. Then, as the sun dips lower, we move into the open fields to capture those dreamy, glowing sunset photos that this location is known for.
We photographed so many combinations — grandparents with the grandkids, parents with their children, and of course, everyone together. With five beautiful girls in the family, there was so much joy and energy! Each of them had such a sweet personality, and mom did an incredible job coordinating their outfits and styling their hair. Everything came together perfectly.
This spot in Helotes is one of my favorites for family sessions because of the way the sun shines through the trees and across the little bridge. The sunset portion of the shoot is always my favorite — there’s just something magical about that golden light wrapping around a family full of love.
