A Sweet Newborn Petite Session with Royal Purple and Neutral Tones

This sweet newborn petite session was extra special because this was this family’s third newborn session with me in just four years. There is truly nothing better than watching families grow and being trusted again and again to photograph such important milestones. As a San Antonio newborn photographer, returning families always mean so much to me, and this session was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.

For this baby boy’s session, mama chose a rich dark royal purple as his primary blanket color. It photographed beautifully and gave his newborn portraits such a classic, bold look while still feeling soft and timeless. We paired the purple with a mix of beige and neutral tones for his outfits and wraps, which helped create a gallery with variety while keeping everything simple, sweet, and cohesive.

A newborn petite session is perfect for families who want a shorter, baby-focused session but still want beautiful variety. Even with a petite session, we can create a meaningful collection of images using different wraps, textures, colors, and simple posing. Baby slept so well during his session, which allowed us to move through his setups smoothly and keep everything calm and relaxed. Toward the very end, he woke up and gave us the sweetest wide-eyed photo. I always love when babies give us a little awake moment at the end of a newborn session because it adds so much personality to the final gallery.

One of baby’s big brothers even came along and watched me work with him throughout the session. He was completely in love with his baby brother, and it was the sweetest thing to see. Those little moments are what make newborn sessions feel so personal.
