Eight months is such a fun age to photograph! Babies are sitting confidently, showing off so much personality, and giving you those expressions that seem to change by the second.

For this little guy’s 8 month milestone session, we went with a vintage baseball theme complete with baseballs, bats, old wooden crates, and a classic wagon. His tiny pinstripe baseball uniform could not have been more perfect for the setup — and that smile definitely stole the show.

One of my favorite things about milestone photography is documenting all of the little things that are so specific to this stage. The chubby legs, tiny hands, new teeth, big smiles, and even those moments when they’re more interested in exploring the props than looking at the camera. At eight months old, there is already so much personality to capture.

This session was one of my Petite Milestone Sessions, which is a great option for parents who want updated professional portraits without needing a full milestone session. Petite sessions are short and sweet and focus on one setup, making them especially perfect for babies with shorter attention spans.

Even with just one backdrop, we can create plenty of variety by changing poses and using different small props. We photographed him sitting, standing with support, playing and, of course, flashing some of those adorable smiles.

Babies change incredibly quickly during their first year, and you definitely don’t have to wait until the first birthday to update their portraits. Milestone sessions around 6–9 months are some of my favorites because babies are usually sitting independently but haven’t quite reached the nonstop running stage yet!
