Beautiful Senior Photos at the McNay Museum in San Antonio | Krystal Garcia Photography

A Beautiful Senior Session at the McNay Museum in San Antonio

Senior year is such a big milestone, and graduation portraits are one of the best ways to celebrate everything that led up to this moment. This gorgeous senior session at the McNay Museum in San Antonio was full of sunshine, beautiful garden backdrops, elegant architecture, and so much excitement for the future.

As a San Antonio senior photographer, I love when senior sessions feel polished but still natural. This session had the perfect balance. Her white dress gave the portraits a classic, timeless look, while the orange cap and gown added that bold graduation moment every senior deserves.

We started near the water and garden areas, which created such a dreamy backdrop for her senior portraits. The soft greenery, stone pathways, and warm golden light made the white dress stand out beautifully. This location gave the images a soft and elegant feel without looking too formal or stiff.

One of the best things about taking senior photos at the McNay Museum is the variety. You can get garden portraits, stone steps, pretty benches, architectural details, walkways, greenery, and fountain images all in one location. That variety makes the full gallery feel complete without needing to travel to multiple places.

Her white dress was such a perfect choice for these portraits. It photographed beautifully against the natural greens and warm stone tones around the museum. A simple white outfit is always a strong option for senior photos because it feels clean, bright, and timeless. It also gives the images a polished look while still letting the senior’s personality shine through.

The stone stairway portraits added a completely different feel to the session. The warm texture of the stone, the sunlight coming through, and her natural smile made this part of the gallery feel classic and a little editorial. I always love using stairs, arches, walls, and pathways during senior sessions because they help create depth and movement in the images.

Senior portraits should not feel like one pose repeated over and over. They should feel like a full story.

For this session, we included a mix of seated poses, standing portraits, walking shots, close-ups, and playful movement. That variety is what keeps a senior gallery interesting. Some images feel soft and sweet, some feel confident, and some feel full of joy and celebration.

And this senior made it easy. She looked beautiful, relaxed, and confident in every setup.

The close-up portraits were some of my favorites from this session. These images are perfect for graduation announcements, albums, wall portraits, and social media posts because they focus on the senior herself. The soft curls, classic white dress, and natural outdoor setting all came together so beautifully.

When planning graduation photos in San Antonio, I always recommend choosing outfits that feel like you but still photograph well. A dress, a polished casual outfit, and your cap and gown are all great options. This session kept things simple and strong with a white dress and orange graduation gown, and honestly, it worked perfectly.

The bench portraits added another sweet, relaxed look to the gallery. I love how the greenery framed her without overpowering the image. The McNay has so many little corners that work beautifully for senior portraits, and this spot gave the gallery a soft garden feel.

Then it was time for the graduation look.

The orange cap and gown brought so much energy to the session. Graduation portraits should feel celebratory, and this look did exactly that. The bright orange popped beautifully against the greenery and warm stone paths, making the images feel bold, happy, and full of personality.

These are the photos that say, “I did it.”

I always think every senior session should include a few fun cap and gown poses. Holding the cap, tossing it, walking with the gown open, sitting near the fountain, or giving a big smile toward the camera — these are the images that feel exciting and emotional at the same time.

Senior year can feel busy and overwhelming, but graduation portraits are a chance to pause and actually celebrate it.

The fountain portraits were absolutely stunning. The sunlight, water, trees, and orange cap and gown created such a beautiful graduation moment. This image has that bright, joyful feeling that makes senior photos so special. It is polished enough for announcements and wall prints, but still full of personality.

One of the prettiest parts of this gallery was the combination of the orange graduation gown with the colorful flowers and warm light. It brought so much life to the images and made the session feel cheerful and fresh.

As a San Antonio senior photographer, my goal is always to create images that feel like more than just “school pictures.” Senior portraits should feel elevated, personal, and worthy of this milestone. They should show confidence, joy, personality, and excitement for what comes next.

This session at the McNay Museum did exactly that.

Senior photos are not just for parents, even though parents definitely love them. They are also for the graduate. They are a reminder of who they were in this season — right on the edge of something new. There is so much beauty in that in-between moment.

High school senior portraits mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. They are about celebrating hard work, growth, personality, and the future ahead.

This beautiful senior brought such a calm, confident, joyful energy to her session, and the McNay Museum was the perfect backdrop to bring it all together. From her classic white dress portraits to her bold graduation cap and gown photos, every part of this session felt bright, elegant, and full of celebration.

Congratulations to this gorgeous graduate. The future is looking so bright.

A Quinceañera Photoshoot at the Japanese Tea Garden | San Antonio, TX

Celebrating a quinceañera is so much more than a photoshoot—it’s a cultural milestone. Even after 16 years as a San Antonio photographer specializing in birthdays and milestone sessions, this was my very first quinceañera session, and I couldn’t be more honored to have captured such a meaningful moment.

We met at the Japanese Tea Garden, one of the most popular spots in San Antonio for quinceañera portraits (for good reason!). Even with the cloudy skies, the gardens were stunning. We explored every corner—the stone bridges, floral pathways, peaceful landscaping, and the iconic waterfall that makes this location feel like a hidden escape right in the middle of the city.

What made this session even more magical were the Christmas lights twinkling in the upper walkways. They added such an elegant, unexpected glow to her portraits and made the whole shoot feel like a fairytale.

As she moved through the gardens in her gown, I focused on guiding her into poses that felt natural, confident, and celebratory—showing both her personality and the significance of her quince. Seeing her step into this new chapter with so much joy was a privilege I won’t forget.

It was an honor to be chosen as her quinceañera photographer, and I am thrilled that her session went so beautifully. Capturing this milestone reminded me exactly why I love what I do: these portraits freeze a moment in time that families will cherish for generations.

If you’re looking for a quinceañera photographer in San Antonio, I’d love to help you celebrate this milestone with timeless, elegant portraits.

Studio Family Photoshoot San Antonio | Krystal Garcia Photography

A Family Full of Love | Generational Studio Session

There’s something so special about being trusted to capture family memories — it’s truly one of the greatest honors of what I do. This particular session was filled with love, laughter, and three generations all in one room: grandparents, grandchildren, and the parents of one sweet baby girl.

From the moment they arrived, the energy was joyful and easygoing. I had fun playing peekaboo with their 6-month-old, but what stood out most was how much she adored her grandpa. Watching them play together was one of those heart-melting moments I love to capture — unscripted, genuine connection.

This family made a great call by choosing to use just one backdrop for their session. While clients can select up to three, keeping it simple allowed us to slow down and be fully present with each grouping. It gave us time to focus on natural posing, getting real smiles, and making space for the kids (and teens!) to relax.

With two teenagers and one baby, the age range was wide — but the session flowed beautifully. The littlest one was even celebrating her very first Fourth of July, which made the day feel even more memorable.
