Romantic Maternity Photos at Landa Library | San Antonio Maternity Photographer
There is something especially beautiful about an outdoor maternity session that feels both romantic and timeless, and Landa Library in San Antonio gave us the perfect setting for this one.
With its warm stucco walls, arched walkways, detailed columns, tiled courtyards and gorgeous mature trees, Landa Library offers so much variety without ever feeling like we are moving from one completely different location to another. Every little corner has character, which allowed us to create a full maternity gallery with a mixture of intimate portraits, beautiful architecture and softer garden-inspired images.
For her session, this mama chose to bring her own floral maternity dress, and it could not have worked more beautifully with the location. The muted mauve, green and burgundy tones looked gorgeous against the warm neutral architecture and surrounding greenery. I especially loved the movement in the skirt—it gave us plenty of opportunities to add softness and shape to her portraits while still keeping everything relaxed and natural.
We started with several portraits focused entirely on mama, carefully posing her to flatter her growing belly while still keeping her comfortable. Small adjustments in the placement of hands, shoulders, hips and even the direction of the face can make such a difference in maternity photography. My goal is always to make posing feel effortless while paying close attention to those tiny details behind the camera.
We also incorporated dad throughout the session, creating a beautiful mix of traditional portraits and more connected moments between the two of them. Some of my favorites are the simplest—the way they looked at each other while walking through the gardens, sitting together beneath the arches, or dad standing behind her with his hands around her belly. Those little interactions are what make a maternity gallery feel personal rather than simply posed.
As the light became warmer, we were able to step farther into the gardens and use the trees and natural surroundings for some beautiful backlit portraits. I love giving my maternity clients a gallery that has variety—close portraits, full-length images, romantic couple photographs and wider images that really showcase the location.
Maternity photographs celebrate such a short season of life. Whether you choose one of the gowns available through my San Antonio maternity photography studio or bring a favorite dress of your own, we can create a session that feels like you while making sure every detail—from location and lighting to posing—is thoughtfully planned.
If you are expecting and considering maternity photos in San Antonio, I recommend scheduling your session early so we can begin planning the perfect location, wardrobe and overall look for your portraits.
