There is something incredibly special about documenting the season right before two people become parents. It is full of anticipation, excitement, tenderness, and so many little moments that deserve to be remembered.

For this San Antonio maternity session, we kept the styling simple, modern, and timeless. The neutral studio backdrop, black tops, and denim created a relaxed look that kept the focus exactly where it belonged — on their connection and this beautiful stage of pregnancy.

I always want maternity portraits to feel polished without feeling overly posed. Some of my favorite images from this session are the quiet ones: a kiss on the forehead, hands resting on baby, the way they look at each other, and those softer moments in between poses. Those are often the photographs that feel even more meaningful years later.

Including your partner in your maternity photography session also tells a bigger part of the story. Pregnancy may center around mom and baby, but this season belongs to both parents. Creating a mix of individual maternity portraits and couples portraits gives clients a gallery that feels complete while still keeping mom beautifully at the center of the session.

After more than 16 years as a photographer, one of the things I pay especially close attention to is posing. Small adjustments in posture, hand placement, body angles, and lighting can completely change the way an image feels. My goal is always to create maternity portraits that are flattering, natural, and still look like you.
